The genetically modified organisms (GMO) are corn, tomato, soy, cow.. and the latest addition was human.

There is a “drug” that will cure a rare fat production disrupting disease by modifying a damaged gene; and 1 or 2 people in a million will get the treatment. You may think that it’s not that bad, at most there could be two people per million to be modified. That’s not the only story.
30 genetically modified babies are already created in the US. The cover reason behind this is parents having problems conceiving. 2 of those babies have gene combinations from 3 different parents. Now these parents will have a more favorable life, as the geneticists state, “this genetic modification method may one day be used to create genetically modified babies ‘with extra, desired characteristics such as strength or high intelligence’” (Gucciardi, 2012).
There are no policies guiding genetic modifications of humans, and powerhouse countries are taking advantage of it. Human stem cells are implanted on goats in China; human brain cells are embedded on mice in the US; 150 human-animal hybrids are grown in the labs of UK.
We don’t know what these monsters are for. Maybe for research to treat diseases, maybe something else. What we know is the government funds scientists and biotech companies to achieve “a much larger feat – genetically modified humans in the form of ‘super soldiers’” (Waking Times, 2012).
Rats that ate genetically modified corn either became ill or died (Mestel, 2012). Let’s say we take away ethics, GMO’s safety is still not guaranteed. But the bigger issue here is invasion of GMOs. When you put a genetically modified plant in a field, it could potentially affect the other plants by sucking all the nutrients from the land. Via survival of the fittest, the GMO plant will persist and reproduce until the rest of the field is full of GMOs.
Now that we have genetically modified humans, are we breeding a new class in the society, a group called the “superior race”? How long can us, the normal race, will last? At the time the GMO babies reproduce, the spread will start.
Now that scientists are claiming that they could trace the “criminal gene”, it may not be too long to produce another drug to isolate that gene; and thus, controlling humanity. People started thinking that we could correct the disordered genes. When will they stop? Until they produced the perfect human? Perfect is not characteristic of human at all.
Are you scared of the genetically modified people living with us?

I didn’t like it when cloning started, this is worse. We may even destroy our own people in the name of science.
That’s one thing I forgot to include. Cloning is now closer to real science than to science fiction. Thanks for bringing that up.
Yes, this is disturbing, I knew they did it, didn’t know the facts or numbers. They are opening the door for a can of worms they won’t be able to control later. I don’t feel anything but pain and sadness that there are Genetically modified people. They wan’t a superior race… Using and testing like lab rats. One day it will bite back. Scary. They could use all this knowledge and come together you never know with all that time and stupid money they could cure many diseases yet they want to worry about getting pregnant so bad for their own sake while so many children are starving and dying. Sad . I’m not really fearful of the mods. I’m more fearful of those scary mad scientists
Curing disease is one thing, modifying human nature another. Perhaps these scientists would like to dedicate the potential ramifications to Josef Mengele, et al, and the Nazi genetic experiments. The “Doctors’ Trial” at Nuremburg ought to be required reading for anyone interested in pursuing these ideas.
30 years ago when I was working on my MA is religious studies I wrote a paper for the ethics course on the religious and moral complications of scientific processes as you described. He called my futuristic propositions absurd and I almost failed the course.
I get very tense when scientists start talking about breeding character traits out of the human race. Who gets to decide which traits are “undesirable?”
Somehow I missed this..thanks for the info!
This was my look at the subject; Accidental human gene modification, a series starting here.
I researched this after I read the article, because I thought it seemed a little far-fetched. It’s legit if you look at the sources listed, as well as others.

I’m more than curious how these people are being tested? The whole thing stinks of greed. Which seems endemic in our society. While deciding which traits are “undesirable”, it’s the who is deciding, that sticks in my craw.

I’m not scared at all. Everything’s eventual. I will not worry my self on things I can’t control. Powerful people can do what they want to do but I believe that no matter what happens, humanity will find a way to exist. When the time comes that I have to act within the reach of my capability against any changes that may adversely affect the existence of mankind, I will. For now, I’ll live my life the way I should.
It’s good to be informed though. Nice post!
This is scary and I don’t want to know anything about it – there is so much going on behind doors … we don’t even know half of it – with viruses and anti-viruses, cloning and manipulating with everything living. They will never tell us the truth – I strongly believe that AIDS is a human manufactured virus and some testing has gone wrong.
It make me so upset and some days am I so happy that I’m so old as I’m because it’s not going any better. We manipulate with everything as it’s now.
I knew we were almost there.

OK, this is all very interesting, but- you state that ‘rats that ate modified corn became ill or died”. Which rats? When? What type of modified corn? Don’t humans already consume modified corn? It would be good to see you expound on your statements with more explanation and support. I felt your piece jumped from statement to statement without a lot of connections. Thank you for the intriguing subject matter, however.
I was just thinking about this the other day and at first I thought, “well, at least they haven’t cloned a human,” then I recalled they had or had at least come close, or only reported that they cane close, and my heart sank. Scientists need to cure diseases that exist, hit make humans who will ne impervious to diseases in the future. Scary post. Thanks for writing it, I think.
Just because scientists “can” doesn’t mean they “should.” This battle has been raging for ages and unless it’s stopped, humankind as we have known it over the centuries will evaporate. Wonder why the zombie craze is so popular?
