“If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans”.

British weapon, the Taranis and the sketch of sighted alien craft
Those are the wise words of Stephen Hawking commenting on how an alien discovery could bring more danger than good. And let’s face it, he has a point – after all, if we were to find an alien species with higher level of intelligence and understanding than us, how would parties on both sides react?
It seems like every other day there is another rover being sent to some distant planet on the edge of our solar system, looking for signs of life. More telescopes pointing towards the skies and everything from written messages to radio waves all in a desperate attempt to find life.
Add to that, more people looking to the skies with little more than the naked eye – claiming to have seen alien spaceships and UFO’s.
People today are obsessed with such a possibility and how it will change our understanding of science and the universe. More films are being released with various different scenarios revolving around the idea of discovering alien life and how us and them would react.
Ideas of invasion, death on a large scale and manipulation may all sound completely ludicrous and similar to that we may expect from a feature film. But nobody knows exactly what kind of danger lies within our universe and what we could potentially be dealing with.
On a more positive note we would come together as a race, as Ronald Reagan once stated: “I occasionally think how quickly we would set aside our difference if we faced some alien threat from the other side.”
Nick Pope, a former British Ministry of Defence UFO expert claims aliens have been around us for some time and can come in all shapes and sizes.
Possibly one of the most significant recorded alien sightings was in Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, United Kingdom – not far from where I am currently based – where an alien space craft apparently landed between two defence bases.
Many people tried to cover up this case as much as they could, but what the people working at the defense base claimed to see is frightening to hear – especially when it seems Britain’s latest fighter craft – the Taranis – looks similar to that of the UFO claimed to have been seen near Rendlesham Forest.
It is also worth noting what some would call excessive defense systems in place during the London 2012 Olympic games, where missiles were placed on top of a number of blocks of flats across the city.
Is or was Britain preparing for an alien invasion? And if so, are they aware of certain alien activity across the planet that the rest of us are unaware of? Or is the Taranis just the latest unique addition to modern warfare?
As Nick Pope said in a recent interview regarding skeptics of the idea of alien contact: “The believers only have to be right once.”
Let’s just hope no one ever has to report on an alien takeover of planet earth.
Should we be taking a step back?

Native Americans found by Columbus and Cortez and such were brutal monstrous cannibals. You may find enlightening THE CONQUEST OF MEXICO by Bernal Dias de la Castilla. He was a foot soldier with Cortez 1519-21 and wrote the book some 30 years later.
Carl D’Agostini, Perhaps so? I still do not see reason for the invasion of their land. The genocide of their culture and people. The medieval people from europe, seemed to revel in that? Given, up to then, 400 years of warfare on Muslims and Jews. …. oh, but there was all that filthy lucre?
Then when one looks at european history, cannibilism lurks below the surface. The Jesuits, with pograms and torture, etc. Must have fit right in?
Written so well.
Well said. As the old saying goes, “There’s no smoke without fire.” There can’t be that many delusional people in the world. Unfortunately I agree with the venerable Mr Hawking, I don’t think any outcome with visiting aliens would be favorable to us.
Great post … and so well written – I think there is enough aliens on earth as it’s. And I don’t believe there is any more life out there … and if there is – let them be and they are not interest in coming here anyhow. It’s only us that what to control the whole of universe.
It is really strange how people think about the same thing in almost the same time. I hope the green guys will come very soon. And I deeply and truly believe that mankind needs a massive true encounter with these guys, at the price of some sacrifice. Why? Because I consider that humans have lost the connection with each other and we’ve become obsessed with ourselves, ignoring everything around us, even our most loved ones. We have confined and secluded ourselves within our own digitized worlds to an extent we are incapable of communicating normally. We need a massive event of global extent to make every human feel really tiny and insignificant, a global threat that will totally eradicate all differences that have been established between people, a threat that is equal to all of us – no matter color of your skin, your religion, your gender or age, your social status or whatever. When this happens the world will become one, only then we will feel the pain of the other, we will understand each other, and only then we will know how much we’ve lost for the last 20 centuries.
Let’s hope we will survive such an encounter, ant that this encounter will be for the good of all mankind.
I’d like to see an alien run for the presidency. Oh wait…
People exploring are not looking for other people. They are looking for resources. We looked to the moon for resources not life. Oddly, we are looking to Mars for life. Be are not looking to meet new people on Mars. We are looking for greater understanding of how life developed. The more we understand the more we can try to control it and create modifications for medical purposes. But there is a ‘resource’ aspect to it as well. We are looking for life not so much to find an alien race but to find a place that is capable of supporting life in the even we need to spread out. At least that is how I see what is going on with the exploration of Mars and the discussions of a couple of other locations.
I think the odds of anyone coming to Earth to ‘make friends’ is less likely and if there are others out there and they do come here, dollars to donuts it is for resources.

Have no fear, ever. fear is a trap. Also, the ‘aliens’ are already here; and have been.
For us to ever interact with any type of ET would mean the use of technology that is currently theoretical.
In order for any alien to travel here, quantum mechanics will be at work. Therefore, anything that an “alien” could be may not even be something we can see, touch or even comprehend.
I believe that humans are not meant to travel any further than we currently are. The theory of relativity prohibits faster than light travel and any experiments into quantum mechanics in terms of travel, frighten the life out of people, we could all disappear into a black hole for example.
We are fundamentally primitive, regardless of how complex we like to make things. When you start into the quantum world, the possibility exists that life is just a simulation.
So who or what decides at what point water boils? Yes we all know what, but we don’t know why, and we never will. I choose to believe that there is a God, but it is an extra-dimensional God (no fluffy white beard) that we could not comprehend. He is a prankster and is playing an inter-galactic game of the SIMs
