What if Harry Potter was never created..

We’ll have nothing to compare Twilight with; we may actually be convinced that it is a good movie.
Update: ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2‘ is rad. Though still about Bella-Edward relationship, several elements of a great story interplay that made it impressive. They saved the best for last.

HAHA! True!
Very profound. Harry Potter has become the measuring rod of so much fantasy fiction and film. (I remember when I sat in my school library and saw a prepublication announcement for the first book. I thought it looked interesting, and thought I might like to get it for the library. If only I could have predicted what would be…)
I’d like to add my 2 cents about a great fantasy novel: The Secret of Platform by Eva Ibbotson. Not a series, but I tell my students I think it’s as good as Harry Potter. And I agree about Twilight: even the books didn’t interest me.
An addition to my above comment: I did a terrible thing. The title of Ibbotson’s wonderful novel is The Secret of Platform 13. I stand humbled.
Thanks, that’s worth checking out. Yeah, I tried reading Twilight but I can’t keep up. Maybe it’s just me but the pacing is too slow and it got too boring. Keep on promoting reading to your students! 😀
*rofl!* no, no, sorry… Twilight will always have been a good book in my mind (though I still cannot define WHY for sure), but never a good movie, no matter what you compare it to. (Ok ok, I’m sure I could think of some movies that would make Twilight look good…. Punch Drunk Love maybe…)
Haha. I doubt it though. Terrible, terrible adaption. At least Taylor Lautner is gorgeous and shirtless.
I read the Twilight books because a friend convinced me they might be good, and once I start a series I must finish it (I’m no quiter! Though reading Twilight made me wish I was). But I must say the books are the worst peice of literature (if you dare call them that) ever written. But people I know who watched the last movie continue to say it was good so…I guess maybe the film makers are a tad bit more intelligent than Stephanie, and good for them. But I refuse to waste anymore of my life on that crap.
